AS/A2 level Art also follows the AQA syllabus assuring continuity in the kind of assessment objectives pupils are expected to follow. The AS qualification includes 2 units of work, one being coursework the other an externally set examination of 5 hours.
At A2 level pupils develop their work through a Personal Investigation, which gives opportunities for experimentation that has been inspired by the investigations of a particular Artists, Designers and Craftsperson.
A written element of approximately 3000 words is designed to help inform the pupils approach to a range of topics and issues.
The externally set 15 hour examination sees the culmination of the course, where pupils have a period of at least 6 weeks to prepare and develop ideas.
Throughout both the AS and A2 sketchbooks comprise an important part of the pupils recording and investigation.
