Summer Fest

Summerfest 2013 is scheduled for 5th - 9th August (Week 1) and 12th to 16th August (Week 2).

During the Summer Holidays each year, St. Bees School runs 'Summerfest', a two week programme of fun sports and activities.

Week 1 is a multi-fun week for children aged 5-15 years. The multi-fun week also runs for a second week for children aged 5-7.

This is a must for your children! The week is packed full of activities which allow your children to mix and have so much fun whilst helping them learn and develop a range of new skills. Here are some of the activities we have on offer.

Arts & Crafts, bouncy castle, badminton, basketball, beach activities, cricket, football, rounders, Slip-n-Slide, sports including athletics, story time, swimming, tag rugby, tennis, treasure hunts, vaulkerball and many more!

The week finishes with an 'It's a Knockout' style competition where the teams compete for small prizes. Family and friends are welcome to come and see this finale to the Summerfest week.


Week 2 is specialised activity week for children aged 8-12 years.

The following activities are on offer in Week 2;

Football Bonanza Ages 8-16

A must for all budding footballers, suitable for any young people who love playing football. Qualified coaching staff will provide a mixture of skills coaching and games.

Splash Dance Ages 8-16

Enjoy a week of dance and swimming. Friends and family are welcome to join us on Friday afternoon for the Splash Dance Show, which will showcase all the hard work the dancers have put in during the week. Please note it is essential for the success of the show that all participants remain for the full week.

Cricket Academy Ages 9-16

This specialist cricket skills academy is for boys and girls who've already started to enjoy the game. Covering both inter cricket and hardball cricket, this is a week to learn something new, improve your cricket skills and have a great time!

Smart Art Ages 8-16


This is a jam packed week for children who are creative and artistic, a lively exploration of arts and crafts designed to stimulate and excite bussing young artists.

All Sports Ages 8-16

This action packed week is perfect for youngsters with lots of energy and a love of sporting activities and competitions. During the week young people will take part in a wide variety of sports including; badminton, basketball, beach activities, cricket, dodgeball, football, orienteering, tag rugby, rounders, Sportshall athletics, swimming, tennis and vaulkerball.

Bitz-n-Boffins Ages 8-16


This week you will have lots of fun as you design a mouse trap powered model racer, make musical instruments, a model submarine, a catapult and many more. You will also enjoy a bridge building competition using straws and many other challenges.

Golf Ages 10-16

Open to boys and girls competent to play on a golf course. Your knowledge and ability is sure to be enhanced through our state of the art golf studio and outstanding training facilities. Under the instruction of our residential PGA GOLF PROFESSIONAL an array of enjoyable activities will not only stimulate improvement, but will leave you determined to take your game to new heights.

Extras

Minibus Service

During the two week Summerfest, our minibus service will operate between the School and Cockermouth, Workington, Whitehaven and Seascale. Please note places are limited and are allocated on a first come, first served basis. Prices are listed in the booking conditions.

Lunch

Summerfest participants must bring a packed lunch. However, we can supply a packed lunch if required; prices are listed in the booking conditions.

Safety

The specialised coaching activities meet the standards demanded by the relevant National Governing Bodies and Summerfest activities are covered by our Public Liabilities Insurance. All our personnel have been CRB checked.

Early and Late Clubs

Parents may book their children into the Early Club from 08:30 where they will be looked after until the start of the Summerfest day. The Late Club may also be booked which operates from the end of the Summerfest day up to 17:30. Prices are listed in the booking conditions.

Weather and Clothing

Due to the unpredictable British weather, it is important that all children remember to bring a change of clothes as well as clothes suitable for hot, cold and wet weather conditions. Swimming caps are compulsory when children are using the pool. They can be purchased for £1 at the poolside.

And Finally

Please be aware an ice cream van makes a daily visit to Summerfest much to the delight of all participants. You may wish to provide a small sum of money for the purchase of ice creams and other treats.
